Luna, Apayao - Nine yApayao woodcarvers joined the two-day Wood Carving Competition held at the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex tomorrow today, February 9, 2023 as part of the Apayao Say-am 2023 celebration.
The challenge for the said competition is to carve anything that depicts the yApayaos, their way of life, or anything asdociated to them in a size appropriate as a souvenir item.
This year, wood carving is one of the recently added contested events to the regular sports and socio-cultural activities held in the province annually.
Provincial Tourism Office said that the competition also aims to build a brand for the wood carving industry in the province exposing the ingenuity of yApayao sculptors and the beauty and importance of woodcarving as an art.
Cash prizes await the winners of the said competition.
