Luna, Apayao – The Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO) has started the validation for the province's second batch of livelihood applicants which began in Sta. Marcela and Flora towns on September 6, 2023.
Apayao LEDIPO Chief Philip Uba highlighted that this is under the livelihood component of the administration's banner program called Apayao Socio-Economic Efforts Necessary for Growth (ASENG). Its primary aim is to promote investments and livelihood initiatives for yApayaos for them to generate more income.
The LEDIPO Chief added that the efforts are expected to bring additional source of revenue to qualified applicants. Uba emphasized that diversifying income sources is important, especially in light of recent typhoons that have severely affected the agricultural sector of the province.
"We don't solely rely on agricultural yields; the provincial government has created business opportunities for our constituents through our office," Uba said.
Uba also mentioned that while the initial batch had over 300 applicants in February, only 87 were approved based on assessment standards. Upon successful examination and approval, assistance will be provided to the beneficiaries.
In the second batch, a total of 76 applicants in Santa Marcela and Flora submitted their project proposals.
Applicants seeking eligibility for the grant must adhere to the guidelines outlined in the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR). Once a proposed project is accepted, LEDIPO will monitor its progress, and successful grantees may propose expansions for their businesses in the future.
Collaborating with LEDIPO for this project are the Office of Agriculture Services (OAS), the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVET).
