Luna, Apayao - The Schools Division Office (SDO) – Apayao successfully conducted the 2023 Division Schools Press Conference (DSPC) held in Luna, Apayao last February 25-26, 2022, gathering all campus journalists and school paper advisers from the 10 school districts in the province.
Contested activities include editorial writing, newswriting, sports writing, sci-tech writing, scriptwriting, radio broadcasting and collaborative desktop publishing, to name a few.
In the overall tally, Luna School District dominated the competitions earning a total score of 205 followed by Pudtol and Sta. Marcela School District who landed second and third place with a total of 160 and 120 points, respectively.
DepEd said they will be posting achievements of individuals from their respective districts in their official facebook pages soon.
Winners of the said competition will be representing SDO-Apayao in the upcoming Regional Schools Press Conference whose venue and time will be scheduled soon.
“We feel so happy that our learners were able to improve in their writing and speaking skills and we feel contented in their performance,” Schools Division Superintendent (SDS) Benedicta B. Gamatero said in an interview.
But to further enhance their journalistic competence, Gamatero said that the regional qualifiers will still undergo cliniquing.
Gamatero also wished the winners good luck in their next endeavor saying, “It’s my prayer that we will put a mark once again for SDO-Apayao.”
The annual conduct of schools press conference is in line with the Department’s thrust to promote responsible and free journalism and pursuant to the provision of RA 7079 also known Campus Journalism Act of 1991.
