Luna, Apayao - The Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Apayao was distinguished by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Cordillera as the most active provincial SWDO in the region during the celebration of its 72nd anniversary on Friday, March 10, 2023.
For being compliant to national and local mandates in relation to the delivery of social services, the province was awarded with the Paglaray Awards in three categories namely Good Practices, Most Comprehensive Reports and Most Active PSWDO in the region covering Calendar Year 2022.
In October last year, the PSWDO was subjected to a functionality assessment and evaluation by the region to measure the quality of services and interventions it is providing to its constituents especially along the areas of adminisration and organization, program management and institutional mechanism which saw a big time leap for the PSWDO from its Level 1 status in 2019 to its Level 3 Service Delivery Capacity (SDC) status at present.
The PSWDO also received the Gapas and Panata Awards for its CY 2022 performance.
PSWD Officer Jocelyn Loyon said that the awards were a result of the continuing commitment of the
province to deliver timely and relevant programs and scnvices to the yApayaos especially to the
disadvantaged and vulnerable sector that include children. women, persons with disabilities as well as the poor and marginalized, to mention a tew.
"These [awards] were not possible if not with the consistent support from our leaders, Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. and Congressman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang," Loyon said mentioning also the support of all municipal SWDOs as well as other partners and development stakeholders in the province.
The awarding ceremony was led by DSWD Undersecretary Eduardo M Punay, joined by DSWD-CAR Regional Director Leo L. Quintilla and was witnessed by various Provincial and Municipal Local Government Units (P/MLGUs) in the region, National Government Agencies as well as private agencies.
The activity also served as a venue to celebrate the contributions of DSWD retirees and all DSWD employees in the attainment of the department's mandate over the last 72 years of its successful operations.
