Luna, Apayao – The Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) has recently announced its intention to construct a two-storey business center in the province and has started negotiations with the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA), Local Government Unit (LGU) of Luna, and other concerned agencies.
“Unparalleled in the history of PhilHealth, Province of Apayao, Governor Elias C. Bulut Jr. has recently committed to construct a 2-storey building at no cost to the state health insurer to house the PhilHealth Business Center (PBC) Apayao. This remarkable support came after the Municipal Government of Luna donated a 2,000 sq.m. lot to the PhilHealth Regional Office in the Cordillera Administrative Region (PRO-CAR)," stated PhilHealth on its official facebook page last March 21, 2023.
PhilHealth also added that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between PRO-CAR and LGU Luna allotting a portion of land to the former for the construction of the proposed building has been penned and that the PGA already presented the proposed architectural design to PRO-CAR. Said agencies are now facilitating the transfer of ownership of the lot and construction shall follow thereafter. PhilHealth will soon join Land Transportation Office (LTO) to have a modern structure in the new government center in San Gregorio, Luna.
The new PhilHealth business center will provide a range of services to members and non-members alike, including enrollment and registration, payment processing, and claims processing. The center will also serve as a hub for outreach programs, health education initiatives, and other community-oriented activities aimed at promoting health and wellness in the province.
In addition to its practical benefits, the new business center is expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, creating new jobs and opportunities to yApayaos.
The announcement of the building of the new facility has been met with excitement and enthusiasm from officials who see it as a much-needed addition to the province’s healthcare infrastructure. They have pledged their support for the project and have expressed their gratitude to PhilHealth for its ongoing efforts to improve healthcare access in the province.
Meanwhile, PRO-CAR Regional VP Dominga Gadgad expressed her gratitude and admiration to the local officials of Apayao for their generosity. “This kind and generous gesture by both the provincial and municipal leaders of the province is the first in the entire Cordillera and the whole of PhilHealth,” she said, adding that “this kind of governance will be beneficial to PhilHealth members who deserve quality, available, and accessible public service.”
