DEA-Apayao holds Training of Trainers to increase effectivity of Brgy. Drug Clearing Program
Luna, Apayao - The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA - Apayao) is conducting a two-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on Barangay Drug Clearing, Advocacy, and Drug Free Workplace in an effort to intensify the agency's campaign against illegal drugs.
The two-day training, which started April 26, was attended by over 30 participants composed of Provincial and Municipal Anti Drug Abuse Council members, Philippine National Police (PNP) personnel, and members of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Said training was held at the ECBJr. Multi-Purpose Evacuation Center (Aliwa Gym), Luna.
The TOT aims to equip the participants with the necessary knowledge and skills on how to effectively implement the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program (BDCP), the advocacy campaign against illegal drugs, and the creation of drug-free workplace.
The PDEA recognizes the importance of collaboration and partnership with the local communities in the drug clearing and prevention program and this training is part of the agency's efforts to strengthen the capability of the councils and other stakeholders in addressing the drug menace in their area.
Resource speakers from PDEA will be discussing the legal framework and best practices in implementing the BDCP, the strategies in advocacy campaign, and the policies and guidelines in establishing a drug-free workplace.
The participants will also be given hands-on training on checking of application folders for drug-free and drug-cleared barangays.
The PDEA is optimistic that the training will not only equip the participants with the necessary skills and knowledge but also motivate them to become advocates of a drug-free community.
One of the resource speakers, Serafina Tenenan expressed her hopes that the TOT would further strengthen the government's anti-drug campaign. "The success of the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program and the drug-free workplace program will depend on the active involvement of the barangay officials and the community as a whole. Let us work together towards a drug-free Apayao," she said.
