Luna, Apayao - The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) has injected renewed vitality into four Multi-Purpose Cooperatives (MPCs) with an investment of P3,350,000 in machinery and equipment and Techno training.
This aid comes as part of the DAR's commitment to bolstering agricultural productivity and supporting Agrarian Reform Beneficiary Organizations (ARBOs) in Apayao.
This program is under the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project-Major Crop Based Block Farming (CRFPSP-MCBF) and Sustainable Livelihood Support Program (CRFPSP-SLSP) for Disaster Affected Areas.
Said distribution was held simultaneously with the signing of Memoranda of Agreement (MOAs), and execution of trust agreements between the DAR Apayao, ARBOs, and other stakeholders held on February 28 at the ECBJr. Evacuation Center and Multi-Purpose Gymnasium (Aliwa Gym) in Luna.
The MPCs benefiting from this initiative include Saranay Multi-Purpose Cooperative, which acquired a Rotavator (Tractor) with accessories, a Mini Farm Truck, and tools (Shovel). Meanwhile, Sibes Agrarian Reform Multi-Purpose Cooperative received Hand Tractors with complete accessories and Brush Cutters. Abante Allig Farmers Multi-Purpose Cooperative obtained Hand Tractors, Brush Cutters, Portable Water Pumps, and Knapsack Chargeable Sprayers. Finally, New Cabatacan Multi-Purpose Cooperative was granted a Cargo Mini Track, Brush Cutters, and sprayers including their techno training.
This effort aligns with the launch of the Climate Resilient Farm Productivity Support Project (CRFPSP), mandated by RA 9729. Its primary aim is to initiate capacity development and formalize commitments among stakeholders, including DAR, the Department of Agriculture (DA), ARBOs, and Local Government Units (LGUs), through MOAs.
Furthermore, this distribution of farm machinery and equipment is a crucial component of the Sustainable and Resilient Agrarian Reform Communities (SuRE ARCs) project. This program is designed to uplift agricultural productivity and income for Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries (ARBs) by providing mechanization projects and support services.
Atty. Gerriazhon Sebastian, a representative from the Provincial Governor’s Office, expressed appreciation of the aid from DAR. Gerriazhon likewise reminded the importance of the help from DAR providing a moniker acronym saying… “D stands for DESIRE of each farmer to elevate their production, A for ACTION required to use the tools in good terms and R stands for REWARD that will come to those who make sacrifices in their work.”
Meanwhile, DAR Apayao representative Ms. Ednalyn Salazar emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating, " Sapaylang kuma ta ipateg ken haan tayo baybay-an dagituy maited nga machineries ken equipments tayo ta dakkel a katulungan tayo iti panag biyag tayo ken ti pinag ubra tayo iti tal-takon tayo.”
