Miss Universe Philippines (MUPh) 2023 on Instagram announced on Monday that Kristeen Mae Boccang of Conner is now an official candidate for the pageant, replacing in the Top 40 Evangeline Fuentes of Pangasinan who withdrew due to health reasons.
The decision to let Boccang takeover Fuentes came after a thorough deliberation of the selection committee, the Local Government Unit of Conner said on Facebook.
Boccang, after landing 2nd Runner-up in the just concluded Dayag ti Apayao, pursued her application to the MUPh but has failed to secure a spot in the pageant's Top 40.
On February 24, Boccang also tried her luck for Miss Philippines Earth after the said pageant opened its doors to new candidates for its upcoming season, and is set to announce the screening result on March 4.
