Luna, Apayao - The newly constructed Luna Municipal Police Station (MPS) worth six million pesos was inaugurated in Poblacion, Luna, Apayao, January 19, 2023.
With the work station, it is expected that deliver of police service shall be faster and better.
Cordillera Police Regional Director PBGen. Mafelino Bazar graced the event as the guest of honor, together with Mayor Josephine Bangsil, Vice Mayor Manolito Bullaoit, Office of the Governor Chief of Staff Verlie Mae Baldovino and Apayao Police Provincial Director PCol. Jefferson Cariaga.
Mayor Bangsil, in her welcome address, said that it is a dream come true because the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Luna encountered several struggles in the process especially in the budget allocation of the said building.
"Mahirap napaaprubahan ang funding ng Luna MPS because there are concerns in its land area. Eventually the LGU donated additional land to complete the 400 square meter area requirement for standard MPS. Thanks to our stakeholders it has now transpired and we are standing infront of it." she said.
Meanwhile, PBGen. Bazar lauded the Apayao Police efforts in maintaining peace and order citing the recent achievement of the province as the most peaceful in the region last year. "Congratulations to the Apayao Police Provincial Office (APPO). Last January 18, during our Command Conference, Apayao was recognized as the most peaceful province in the Cordilleras for 2022." he said.
"With the big support of the government in investing over six million in infrastructure, our commitment to provide a good working place for the men and women of Luna MPS has now materialized. This building will cater not only the needs of the police officers of Luna but also the to the community it serves." Bazar said adding that the new building will provide a sense of peace and security and will uplift the morale of the Luna MPS personnel and the entire locality.
The construction of the said building started March 26, was completed in December last year and became ready for occupancy this January 2023.
