Kalinga soldier killed in Apayao gun-battle now laid to rest


Tabuk City, Kalinga – The young yKalinga soldier who was killed during an armed encounter with members of the communist terrorist group was laid to rest at Greenhills, Bulanao on July 5, 2022.


The fallen hero, Private Kobee Wackisan, is a native of Tanudan, Kalinga. He was 24 years old and spent 3 years in the military service.


The young soldier had his requiem mass at Saint William’s Cathedral before he was brought to Greenhills, Bulanao for his burial.


Wackisan was killed in action in Barangay Katablangan, Conner, Apayao on June 30, 2022.

This was after the 52nd Division Reconnaissance Company launched a combat operation against the rebels who were spotted and reported by the community.


During the operation, a 30-minute gunfight between the government troops and the rebels happened. This resulted in the death of the young soldier.


The 5th Infantry Division earlier expressed that the ultimate sacrifice made by Wackisan will not be wasted, emphasizing they are going to continue the fight against the remaining insurgents for the victims and for the people who lost their loved ones due to the atrocities of the rebels.
