Luna, Apayao - Flora’s Kabinnulig Festival float bested the six other municipalities in the province in the recently held float competition as part of the 28th Apayao Foundation Day celebration this morning, February 10, 2023.
The grandiose of the carabao’s iconic image set on the float’s forefront plus the accents of coonut shell, corn peel, bamboo and cogon grass put together in a single masterpiece is what led Flora to top this float competition once more after failing to sustain their threepeat record in 2020.
Calanasan meanwhile landed first runner-up for featuring Apayao’s LAPAT system and for its illustration of various cultural symbolisms while Sta. Marcela finished second for its depiction of the town as a finely flourishing town in the land locked realm of Apayao with its pride tourism destinations, Bacut Lake and Tacang Small Water Impounding Project (SWIP) and its being the cassava basket of the province.
For meeting the criteria set for the competition, Flora got a total score of 98.2 followed by Calanasan and Sta. Marcela floats that garnered a total score of 97 and 95.6, respectively.
All seven competing floats were paraded from the Apayao welcome arc in Quirino, Luna ferrying each municipality's Dayag ti Apayao candidates towards the Apayao Eco-Tourism and Sports Complex in San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao where the judging and awarding were both held.
