Conner, Apayao – In their capacity as a member of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF ELCAC), the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD) began its financial assistance payout program to barangays identified as conflict-cleared areas in the municipality of Conner to aid in the recovery of families affected by the insurgency.
Said initiative is in support of their mandate as a member of the said task force through its whole-of-nation approach such as to prioritize and harmonize the delivery of basic services and social development packages in conflict-affected areas and vulnerable communities, facilitate societal inclusivity, and ensure active participation of all sectors of the society in pursuit of the country’s peace agenda.
In a serbisyo caravan program conducted in Barangay Allangigan, Conner last April 24, 2023, the DSWD-Apayao commenced the first leg of financial assistance payout covering said barangay from April 24 to 27 with a total of 191 families to receive financial.
Said payout program was led by Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) department heads, Local Government Unit (LGU) of Conner officials, PTF ELCAC partner agencies, and other stakeholders.
Simultaneous with the payout activity was the Retooled Community Support Program (RCSP) of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG - Apayao) and the Enhanced Barangay Development Planning Workshop led by MTF ELCAC members.
Meanwhile, similar activities will also be conducted in Barangay Katabalangan on May 23 to 26 and Barangay Nabuangan on May 16 to 19 with 425 identified families from the two barangays to receive financial assistance.
