Flora, Apayao - Over 50 Beneficiaries of the Tulong Panghahanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program of Flora recently underwent an orientation session last March 30, 2023 at Efren U. De San Jose Memorial Sports Complex.
The TUPAD program, which is implemented by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), aims to provide temporary employment to displaced and disadvantaged workers in the country.
The beneficiaries who attended were from various barangays in Flora and were welcomed by Acting Mayor Jeofrey Blas and Acting Vice Mayor Manny Biggayan, and few other local officials.
DOLE representative Marcelo Saleo-An Jr. discussed the eligibility requirements for the program, which include being a displaced or disadvantaged worker, having no means of income, and being a resident of the area where the program is implemented. Saleo-An also explained the benefits of the program, such as providing temporary employment for the period of 10-30 days, depending on the work to be done, and receiving daily wage that is atleast equivalent to the prevailing minimun wage in the locality.
The beneficiaries will be working in various projects, such as the rehabilitation of community facilities and infrastructure, cleaning and beautification of public areas, and other activities that will help improve the town's overall appearance.
