Luna, Apayao – As Apayao holds its month-long celebration of the 123rd Philippine Civil Service Anniversary , CSC Field Office Apayao (CSC-Apayao) organized a Plant Run, resulting in the planting of over 300 seedlings in San Gregorio, Luna.
On September 17, 2023, within the San Gregorio watershed, a total of 320 seedlings were carefully placed. This green endeavor made possible the planting of 100 Narra, 100 Mahogany, 50 Palosapis, 30 Kalumpit, 20 Tuai, and 20 Banaba trees, enriching the local environment.
Barangay Captain Rodrigo Parinas expressed his gratitude saying, "Agyamannak unay ti Civil Service ta dituy Barangay mi ti napili nga pagmulaan ti kay kayo."
Speaking on the significance of this initiative, SR. HRS Maira Geneva Wallis-Nuarin from CSC emphasized that the chosen location for planting was a watershed vital for the water supply of both Barangay San Gregorio and the Field Office Apayao.
Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmar D. Pascua lauded the CSC for spearheading the said activity, noting, "Congratulations CSC for pioneering this initiative. It's a breakthrough in the CSC and public service as well. Certainly, the trees we plant today will serve future generations."
The Plant Run was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Provincial Government of Apayao, Local Government Unit of Luna, Barangay San Gregorio officials and residents, CENRO Calanasan, Apayao 2nd District Engineering Office, along with the dedication of Miss Clarissa D. Alonzo, Miss Jevanilyn I. Puly, and Miss Donnalyn Tenorio from the Local Government Unit of Pudtol.
