Luna, Apayao – The Schools Division Office (SDO) - Apayao on Thursday, March 2, 2023, announced that the 2023 Provincial Selection Meet will commence on March 11, 2023, which is also a way to select players for the conduct of CARAA 2023.
The announcement was made through the issuance of Memorandum Order No. 113, series of 2023 released on Wednesday, March 1, specifying the guidelines to be complied with by the participants from the 10 school districts in the province.
The said most awaited sporting event slated on March 11-12, March 18-19 and March 25-26, respectively, in various playing venues, will feature 18 sporting events. The best chosen athletes from the sporting event shall later represent Apayao in the Cordillera Adminsitrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet this coming April.
The activities will include Arnis, Athletics, Billiards, Chess, Taekwondo, Gymnastics, Boxing, Lawn Tennis, Wrestling, Wushu, Swimming, Table Tennis and Badminton.
As agreed upon during the first quarter Provincial School Board (PSB) meeting held on February 23, the provincial meet will include Volleyball, Basketball, Softball and Baseball which were not included in the proposed line up of activities during the CARAA.
Schools Division Superintendent Benedicta B. Gamatero earlier in an interview assured that the activity will be held in compliance with the ‘no disruption of classes’ policy of the Department of Education under Department Order No. 34, series of 2022.
