Apayao State College now ISO 9001:2015 certified

Luna, Apayao - Apayao State College (ASC) has earned an ISO 9001:2015 certification for its Quality Management System from the DQS Certification Phils., Inc., based in Makati City, Metro Manila, with Main Office at Germany with ASC officials, personnel, students, and other stakeholders witnessing the institution’s milestone on Friday, April 14, 2023.

The DQS Audit Team headed by Ms. Jenny M. Barachina, Team Leader and Ms. Catherine T. Sigua, Co-Auditor commended ASC on the effective implementation of its QMS conforming to ISO 9001:2015, and which apply to all the departments and units of ASC campuses.

The ISO 9001:2015, the latest version of the ISO 9001 standard, is a global standard set by the International Organization for Standardization that specifies the requirements for a strong QMS; outlining the processes, procedures, and programs that organizations must develop, implement, maintain, and improve to successfully manage production or service delivery.

It enables government agencies to consistently provide products and services that meet customer requirements and enhance client satisfaction. It helps agencies address risks and identify opportunities associated with the agency’s specific objectives, and fosters continuous improvement for government institutions to achieve excellent performance in their transactions or processes.

College President Dr. John N. Cabansag, said the College successfully met the specifications required by the ISO 9001:2015, and thus congratulated all personnel, students and stakeholders of ASC involved in the implementation of the ISO QMS standard, calling the awarding a “proof of the constant efforts to ensure that the programs and services are at par with the global management standards”.

The required ISO conditions included the streamlining of operations through digitalization and organization reengineering, simplification of service delivery, quality instruction, research, extension, resource generation and management, human resource training, and student services standards, among others.

Jemmarie Kotoken, VP for Administration and Finance Services, said with the adaptation of the ISO QMS standard, the functions and operations of the College will institutionalize the ease of doing business mandate and ensure “better delivery of services and products to the ASCians and yApayaos.”

Cabansag likewise said that the recent ISO certification validates that ASC’s standardized processes are consistently followed. “The audit is an opportunity for ASC to also identify areas for improvement so it can deliver better services not only for its stakeholders but also for the general public.”

He said that ASC will continue to press forward in its vision to be an innovation-driven higher education institution in the Asia Pacific region pursuing excellence in instruction, biodiversity conservation and protection, pioneering research, and community empowerment.

It could be recalled that ASC passed the ISO Stage 1 certification held in February 22 this year which prepared the institution to undergo full certification last week.
