Luna, Apayao – The Apayao State College (ASC) commemorated its 26th founding anniversary at the ASC Luna Campus in San Isidro Sur, Luna, with a series of events reflecting the institution's dedication to excellence and community empowerment, under the theme, "Celebrating the ASCian Spirit: Empowering Minds, Championing Innovations, and Transforming Communities."
The festivities commenced with a thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Froilan Pangda, following a three-hour grand motorcade through the towns of Abulug and Pamplona in Cagayan Province, and Luna and Pudtol towns. This symbolic journey served as an expression of gratitude, unity, reflection, and celebration for the ASC community.
The occasion also marked the observance of Republic Act No. 8563, the legislation responsible for the transformation of the Apayao Institute of Science and Technology into a chartered state college back in February 1998.
Honoring the visionary efforts of the late Hon. Elias K. Bulut, Sr., the author of RA 8563 and the founding father of Apayao, attendees reflected on the significance of his vision for higher education in the province.
ASC President John N. Cabansag underscored the extraordinary achievements of the College across its fourfold functions in his State of the College Address. " These works remind us that we are not only the Apayao State College, but we are also the Apayao State College with a mission to nurture and develop nation builders equipped with internationally competitive innovations which can transform society for sustainable development," Cabansag emphasized.
A pivotal moment of the celebrations was the oath-taking ceremony for newly promoted and appointed faculty members, administered by the College President. Among those sworn in were 44 reclassified faculty members, 35 newly appointed instructors, along with 10 casual and 9 contractual appointees.
The joyous atmosphere continued with competitions such as the Cheers and Yell competition and Laro ng Lahi, participated in by students, teaching staff, and non-teaching personnel.
Additionally, the Charter Day festivities included a general assembly of faculty and non-teaching associations, providing a platform for meaningful discussions on matters pertinent to the organization's interests and welfare.
