Apayao State College joins 2023 CARASUC athletic meet in Kalinga


TABUK CITY, Kalinga - Some 350 delegates from the Province of Apayao composed of 284 athletes, 47 coaches and 19 College officials will be participating in the 2023 Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) slated from April 18-21, 2023 in Tabuk City, Kalinga.


ASC will be competing against five other member-SUCs in the region in this most anticipated annual event that brings together student-athletes from different universities in CAR, with Kalinga State University (KSU) as the host SUC.


This year’s CARASUC Athletic Meet theme, “Sustaining Sports, Culture and the Arts for National Building during the Post- Pandemic” will feature various sports events such as track and field, basketball, volleyball, and football, sepak takraw, combat sports, among others, while the cultural and arts festival will be highlighted traditional dances, music, and arts.


A day prior to the event’s opening, a solidarity meeting was also held to discuss the rules and regulations of the sports, cultural and art event and which aim is to ensure that all participants level-off with the guidelines and to remind each delegation to compete with utmost sportsmanship, safety and fairness.


In the evening, as the host SUC, KSU also organized a welcome program named "Padatong" to properly welcome the participants from different SUCs, with its University President Dr. Eduardo T. Bagtang expressing his warm accommodations to the various delegations and wishing each one the best.


“There is one that we should not forget- Sportsmanship, we should all renew friends as one Cordilleran,” Bagtang said.


ASC President John Cabansag meanwhile in an online interview conveyed his best of luck to all the athletes from the Province of Apayao saying, “The ASC community is one with you in this endeavor. May you bring home something worth celebrating.”


Meanwhile, in support to the province’s lone SUC’s journey in the CARASUC this year, the provincial government provided P500 thousand cash assistance and likewise lent vehicles to facilitate the transport of the delegation to and from the venue.
