Luna, Apayao - The celebration of the 28th Foundation Day of the Province of Apayao culminated with the street dancing competition, cookfest and the closing of the Agro-Industrial Trade and Tourism Fair (AITF) today, February 12.
The activity was made more special by the presence of Senator Imee R. Marcos who served as the guest of honor and speaker during the culminating program held at the Apayao Eco-Tourism Complex (AETC) in San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao.
The program started with the grand entrance of the officials and employees of the various participating municipalities and national line agencies towards the AETC grandstand where the celebratory program and streetdance competition followed.
Best dancers from the seven municipal delegations were showcased in streetdancing in the rhythm of percussion instruments, lively music and chants. Calanasan was adjudged champion followed by Pudtol and Flora, which landed first and second runner-up, respectively.
In the cookfest, Kabugao team took home the bacon followed by Sta. Marcela, Conner and Calanasan, respectively.
Provincial Agriculturist Prudencio Bosing meanwhile said that per audit of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the AITF earned a total of P1.6 million sales with MSME's having the highest contribution, P399 thousand, while for LGUs, Calanasan earned the highest proceeds, P344 thousand, followed by Conner and Pudtol, P272 thousand and P201 thousand respectively.
Calanasan was also adjuged champion for booth competition followed by Pudtol and Sta. Marcela, respectively.
The culminating activities were also witnessed by Cordillera Regional Directors of DSWD, DepEd, DOT, DA, NCIP, PHIC, DOTr, PhilPost, DENR, OWWA, DOST, BFAR, CSC, DILG, PIA and DAR and the Assistant Regional Director of DOLE.
