Flora, Apayao – 93 pieces of abandoned Tanguile lumbers, with a total volume of 1,670 board feet was recovered by the personnel of the 1st Apayao Provincial Mobile Force Company (PMFC) on the evening of January 30, 2023 in Upper Atok, Flora.
The lumbers were said to be worth P50,100.00 in total.
As per the Apayao Police Provincial Office (APPO) report, the 1st PMFC acted upon a citizen's alert report on the finding of abandoned lumber in the forested area of Sitio Naganakan, Barangay Upper Atok, Flora, Apayao.
Swift efforts were set into motion involving personnel from various law enforcement agencies, including the 1st Apayao PMFC, Police Intelligence Unit (PIU), Flora Municipal Police Station (MPS), and CENRO Calanasan.
Subsequent investigations led the joint operatives to the site where they successfully recovered a cache of Ninety-Three (93) pieces of Tanguile lumbers, each varying in dimensions. Forest Ranger Sherwin M. Barlan scaled the lumbers, revealing a total volume of 1,670 board feet with an estimated value of Php 50,100.00.
Despite diligent efforts to identify the owner of the illegally sawn lumbers, no claimant came forward. Consequently, the recovered materials were turned over to the personnel of CENRO Calanasan at Bagutong Checkpoint for custody and further investigation.
