Luna, Apayao - Gearing towards saving its natural resources, protecting biodiversity, and maintaining the presence of the Philippine Eagle in its area, Apayao province through the help and support of the Philippine Eagle Foundation(PEF) continue its bid in becoming the 4th Biosphere Reserve titlist in the country.
Governor Elias Bulut, Jr. is pushing to gain the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Biosphere Reserve title as this will not only be a great recognition for the province but also a means for sustainable development.
In a Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting today, February 8, at the Provincial Capitol - Conference Hall, Governor Bulut expressed his full support to the TWG personnel who will be working behind the acquisition of the biosphere reserve recognition.
" We are always lucky to have PEF with us. They will be working with us to achieve this dream of becoming one of the biosphere reserve areas in the country," said Bulut.
Dr. Jayson Ibañez, Philippine Eagle Foundation Research and Conservation director, also eched hope for Apayao to be one of the biosphere reserves in the country.
During said meeting, PGO-ENRD Chief Marcelo Menor presented the 2023 Work and Financial Plan (WFP) to make sure the works will proceed smoothly and according to timeline.
