Luna, Apayao - The Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) released a total of 10 million subsidy to seven administrative barangays during the Administrative Barangays Assembly held at LMP Building, AETSC, Luna on March 14, 2023.
Each of the 7 barangays (Barangays Bucarot, Macalino, Parina, and Sta. Elena in Calanasan, Mabiga in Conner, and EKB in Kabugao) received P1.5 million, while Calayucay in Luna town received one million pesos.
The subsidy is part of the PGA's efforts to empower administrative barangays and enhance their capacity to address the needs of their constituents by supporting barangay level projects that contribute to the improvement of community infrastructure, health, education, and other essential services.
Provincial Budget Officer Jovenal Leguiab emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability in the use of the subsidy funds. "Your long-awaited clamour of an increase in your Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA) has been granted by the governor and I hope that you utilize these funds in full transparency and accountability," he said.
Barangay officials were reminded to use the funds for projects that would benefit the community and to submit their regular reports to the PGA on how the funds are spent. "You can always visit the Provincial Budget Office for your queries regarding your funds and finances. Huwag kayong matakot na magtanong sa amin regarding your project fundings. As much as possible i-utilize natin ito para hindi maconvert as savings," he added.
Meantime, Provincial Administrator Atty. Edmar Pascua, who led the awarding, expressed his support to the barangay's development efforts and encouraged officials to use the subsidy funds wisely.
"Iti challenge ko kanyayo nga Administrative Barangays, agbalin tayo kuma nga model barangays iti munisipyo tayo. Agtitinnulong tayo nga mangpapintas haan laeng iti facilities tayo ket pati kuma iti pagsayaatan iti panagbiyag iti constituents tayo. Ited tayo iti serbisyo nga para kanya da," he said.
Pascua also assured the barangay officials of the PGA's continued support to their initiatives to improve the quality of life of their constituents.
The distribution of subsidy checks to administrative barangays is just one of the many programs of the PGA aimed at promoting community development and empowerment. Through these initiatives, the government hopes to create more opportunities for growth and progress in the province.
