Baguio City, Philippines – The Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) was recognized by the Bureau of Internal Revenue - Cordillera Administrative Region (BIR-CAR) for its exemplary tax compliance during the 2023 Regional Tax Campaign Kick-off on March 09, 2023 in Baguio City.
The PGA and the Local Government of Calanasan were among those recognized by the BIR-CAR for their efficient revenue collections, and commitment to good governance and fiscal responsibility.
Both local government units were awarded plaque of appreciation acknowledging their timely payment of taxes and continued cooperation with the bureau's efforts for nation building.
With the recurring theme, "Tulong-tulong sa pagbangon, Kapit Kamay sa pag-ahon, Buwis na Wasto, Alay para sa Pilipino", Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong in his speech, stressed that the desired objectives of tax policy can only be achieved when properly administered.
"Political leaders on their part, has the power to facilitate the eradication of corrupt practices through tax administration and necessary interventions." he said.
In response to the recognition, Executive Assistant IV Verlie Mae S. Baldovino expressed her gratitude to the BIR-CAR for the aforementioned award and underscored the PGA's commitment to responsible fiscal management.
"This is a proof of the province's commitment in promoting tax policy through supervising, monitoring and performing our public duties." Baldovino said adding that "the PGA is taking tax obligations seriously."
The PGA has vowed to continue its effort to ensure tax compliance and to increase tax revenue collection, recognizing the role of taxation in funding government programs and services and improving the lives of the people in the province. - Merry Chris Mariano
