Apayao PLGU partners with Phil. Dance Sports Federation to give free training to aspiring dancers


Luna Apayao- Some 50 participants attended the two-day Dance Sport Workshop and Training conducted by the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) in colaboration with Philippine Dance Sports Federation last September 16-17, 2023 in Luna, Apayao.


Said event saw active participation of representatives from various National Line Agencies (NLAs) including DepEd teachers and students who competed in CARAA meet. The rest of the participants are from the PGA.


DanceSport combines the art of dance with the composure of athletics. It develops physical strength, agility, coordination, stamina, endurance and fitness among others.


Ms. Verlimae S. Baldovino PGO Chief of Staff, one of the trainees, said that the sport helped her develop professionalism and perseverance. It also made her value team work and humility, among others.


"Marami akong natutunan, narealize ko na many of the things I used to do were incorrect" Baldovino said.


Latin dances such as chachacha, rumba, jive, samba and standard dances such as tango, quickstep, and waltz were taught by the trainers.


Baldovino likewise thanked Ms. Joyce Ganaden, one of the proponents of the event, and the pioneer licensed danceport adjudication in the province for her efforts to promote dance sport in the community and the youth.


She also expressed her gratitude to Julie Margaret Flintham and Lowell Basa Tan, the trainers during the said two-day workshop and training.
