Apayao, Philippines — In their bid to end the communist armed conflict in Apayao, up to P1,000,000 reward shall be given as a bounty to anyone who could ‘capture, arrest or kill’ any member of the Communist Terrorist Group in the province.
The monetary reward scheme was made by Provincial Governor Elias Bulut Jr. through Executive Order (EO) No. 022 Series of 2022.
Bulut ordered the granting of a cash reward amounting to P100,000 to anyone who ‘captures, arrests or kills’ a member of the communist terrorist group(CTG) ‘in a legitimate military operation’, with P1,000,000 reward for the ‘capture, arrest, or death’ of a high-ranking CTG official.
These cash incentives shall be covered under the Awards and Rewards Account of the annual budget of the Provincial Governor’s Office.
The governor noted in the EO that a number of government troops already sacrificed their lives to protect the constituents in Apayao from the CTG and this should not go on.
“There is a rising military and security concerns in the Province of Apayao considering the recent disturbances and tensions and other armed conflicts and threats that led to a number of soldiers sacrificing their lives to protect the people against the atrocities of the Communist Terrorist Group,” the EO reads.
The Provincial Governor further affirmed in the EO that the Provincial Government of Apayao shall continue its aim to end the local communist armed conflict and that they will ensure public safety and the delivery of goods and services to the people.
The Executive Order was signed by Governor Bulut on September 30, 2022.
