Luna, Apayao - The Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) and its stakeholders held its monthy gathering, Kapehan sa Kapitolyo, today, April 3, 2023 at the Aliwa Gym, Luna, to discuss plans, programs, and activities of the government for the said month.
The meeting brings together PGA officials, National Line Agency (NLA) heads, Civil Society Organizations (CSO) representatives, and the general public to discuss important matters and issues affecting the province, said gathering is also a forum for open discussion and dialogues, allowing everyone to voice their concerns, opinions, and suggestions.
The program started off with a message from the Apayao lone district representative Cong. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang who provided updates on the priority bills being attended at the lower house, such as the new agrarian emancipation bill, rightsizing of government offices, maharlika fund, among others.
She also commended the PGA for the creation of Lawful and Unified initiatives in Safeguarding Apayao lands (LUSA), a task force created to oversee real property issues and concerns including registration and collection of necessary dues.
She likewise thanked the NLAs for their continued support to the programs of the PGA. "Agyamanak iti agtultuloy nga suporta yu [stakeholders] iti amin nga programa it provincial government. Itultuloy tayo daytoy nga panagkakadwa tayo tapno al alisto iti serbisyo para iti yApayaos," she said.
Meanwhile, Gov. Elias C. Bulut, Jr., who presided over the said event, emphasized the importance of Kapehan sa Kapitolyo as a platform to promote transparency and accountability. "We want to hear from our constituents and stakeholders, and this forum provides an opportunity for us to have an open and honest conversation about our province's progress and challenges," he said.
Further, simultaneous with the aforesaid event was the awarding of financial assistance to former rebels and oath taking ceremony of the newly-elected Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Apayao chapter officers.
Matters regarding Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Asscociation (CARAA) meet and the province's hosting of the 36th Cordillera Month Celebration were also discussed. Likewise, the newly-installed Schools Division Superintendent (SDS), Irene Angway, was also given a warm welcome during the Kapehan session.
