Luna, Apayao - Over 100 participants led by employees of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) and police personnel joined the launching of this year's observance of the Oral Health Month held this morning February 2, 2023.
The activity kicked off with a fun ride and fun run from the Apayao welcome arc in Quirino, Luna towards the ECBJR Multipurpose Building and Evacuation Center in San Isidro Sur where an hour-long zumba exercise was held.
With this year's theme, 'Sa bibig na malusog at alaga, masustansyang pagkain enjoy hanggang pagtanda!', this month-long program aims to educate the public about the value of maintaining good oral health while preventing possible diseases connected to it, including the infection to Covid 19 virus.
Gracing the activity, Department of Health - Cordillera Administrative Region (DOH-CAR) Oral Health Program Coordinator Dra. Anabelle Bawang stressed the importance of good oral health practices as part of general wellness especially to the children.
She likewise conducted a lecture regarding the interventions of DOH-CAR to minimize oral diseases such as oral infections, gum diseases, tooth decay and other conditions that can limit one's capacity to bite, chew, speak, and smile.
The launching ceremonies were highlighted by the search for the most orally fit individual participated in by employees of the provincial government and a poster-making contest joined by nine school-going children of Luna School District.
