Luna, Apayao – The Apayao PLGU, in its support to its youth, granted the request of the Apayao State College (ASC) asking for financial aid to cover some costs needed by students who shall compete in the regional athletic meet and socio-cultural festival of State Universities and Colleges in CAR.
The regional meet is participated in by 7 delegations, Mt. Province Polytechnic College, Ifugao State University, Benguet State University, Apayao State College, Abra University, and Kalinga State University as the event’s host.
The sporting events include arnis, boxing, karate, Muay Thai, taekwondo, Pencak Silat, athletics, badminton, basketball, beach volleyball, chess, e-games, football, futsal, lawn tennis, sepak takraw, softball, table tennis, and volleyball. For sociocultural contests, contenders shall compete in theater and visual arts, music, and dances. Winners shall advance to the national level.
Provincial Administrator, Atty. Edmar Pascua, in an interview, said the PLGU committed 500,000 pesos to ASC players and contestants as a show of support and confidence that the delegation will succeed in said regional competition.
“The governor (Elias C. Bulut Jr.) has always been supportive of the youth and we make sure there is readied help. In return, we expect they do well… sapay koma ta ipapati da,” said Pascua, adding that the province invest much in the yApayao youth.
The aid shall cover transportation, rent or purchase of costumes for the soci-cultural competitions, combative uniforms and gears, and others.
A total of 384 ASC delegates will be joining the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC) Athletic Meet & Socio-cultural Festival 2023. Comprising the total number are 275 athletes and 109 coaches and delegation officials.
