Luna, Apayao - The Apayao Provincial Health Office (PHO) has recently launched an education and information campaign aimed at promoting road safety awareness among resident and visitor bikers in the province earlier today, April 20, 2023 in Aliwa Gym, Luna.
According to the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Mark Calban, the activity is part of the department's efforts to reduce the number of road accidents in the province. "We want to raise awareness about the importance of road safety and encourage everyone to practice safe driving habits," he said.
The activity includes series of lectures and presentations conducted by Highway Patrol Group (HPG) Apayao representatives and other experts on various aspects of road safety such as, traffic rules and safety, proper seatbelt use, responsible driving, and the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In addition to the lectures, the PHO also distributed educational materials such as pamphlets and flyers to raise awareness on road safety. They opened the registration of participants for the road bike race and search for Mr. and Ms. Bikers Champ for Road Safety which will be conducted the following day.
The PHO and HPG plans to continue the campaign for the rest of the year and hopes to see a significant reduction in road accidents in Apayao as a result of their efforts.
