Luna, Apayao - Nine students and three teacher-coaches from the Apayao Science High School (ASHS) received recognition awards during the Math Olympiads Training League Incorporated (MOTLI) Awarding ceremonies held last January 15, 2023 at Notre Dame of Greater Manila Auditorium, Caloocan City.
The awarding ceremony was intended to recognize achievers during the recently concluded competitions hosted by MOTLI namely, the Thailand International Mathematical Olympiad (TIMO) 2022 Heat Round and Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO) 2022 Heat Round that were held last October 23 and November 27, 2022 respectively.
Said awardees under TIMO Heat Round were Emil Paterson Borromeo, 16 who bagged the silver medal and Luis Henry Dacalan, 15, John Mark Lagazo, 13, and Coelyn Kiane Fernandez, 13 all bagged bronze medals. They will represent ASHS in the TIMO 2023 Finals this March in Pattaya, Thailand, with coaches Daine Gamiao and Jenny Anne Molina.
Under HKISO, the awardees were Ainsley Jevan Yeso, 16 taking home gold medal, Hanna Alyssa Ongto, 16 and Jewel Liane Parugrug 14, both silver medalists, Queenie Heart Orbosis, 15, bronze and a participatory award for Harry Davis Galleon, 16.
Yeso, Ongto, Parugrug and Orbosis along with teacher-coach Mercuria Menor will compete in HKISO 2023 Finals in Singapore this June.
MOTLI is a non-stock and non-profit organization of professionals that aim to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills through face to face and online intensive Mathematics training, stringent screening of learners for International Mathematics Competitions, and active hosting for an International Mathematical Olympiad in the Philippines.
"We thank the governor, the congressman, the entire faculty and the parents for their overwhelming support to our students. This is for the province and our alma mater ASHS." teacher-coach Daine Gamiao when asked who they dedicate their recent succes to.
