Apayao legislator encourages former rebels to be catalysts of peace


Luna, Apayao - Board Member Mcleen Julian delivered words of encouragement to the former rebels who received their livelihood assistance from the Provincial Goverment of Apayao (PGA) and Department of Interior and Local Government (DIlG) earlier today, April 13, 2023.


In a short ceremony held at the Office of the Governor, Julian said that the government offers various reintegration programs and assistance to former rebels, encouraging them to bridge the gap between the government and their former comrades who are yet to join the Enchanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP).


"Agbalin kayo koma nga partners iti gobyerno nga mangtulong kanyami nga mangpasubli pay iti dadduma nga kakadwa yu. Adu iti programa tatta nga mabalin mangtulong kanyayo nga mangrugi manen iti naurnos nga panagbiag," he said.


Julian, who chairs the legislative committee for environment, likewise asked them to help in the PGA's efforts in protecting its natural resources by enlisting as green guards under the Environment and Natural Resources Division (ENRD) of the PGA.


Meanwhile, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Officer Philip Uba reiterated the the legislator's sentiments, stating that the government is giving them ample opportunities to rebuild their lives and contribute to the development of their communities.


"Ammo tayo metten iti rigat na iti panagbiyag. Isu nga napintas nga napanunut tayo nga agsubli iti sidong iti gobyerno. Makita tayo met iti dipirensya na iti panagbiag. Uray kimmawala kayo idi, arakupen nakayo latta iti gobyerno," Uba said ading that the governor is sincere in his efforts to promulgate programs that will benefit the returnees.


In this undertaking, three (3) former rebels from Upper Atok, Flora received livelihood assistance amounting to P20,000 each for the two (2) former rebels while P5,000 is also awarded to one (1) former rebel courtesy of the E-CLIP of DILG and immediate assistance from the PGA.


Also present during the awarding ceremony are Governor's Chief of Staff Verlie Mae Bladovino, DILG personnel Edward Ucol and Valentine Atuan, PGA's Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) Focal Person Premadona Salazar and Upper Atok Barangay Captain Marcito Viernes.
