Luna, Apayao - The Apayao Agri-Industrial and Tourism Fair (AITF) soft opening was held today, February 6, 2023 in San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao, as part of the celebration of the 28th Foundation Day of Apayao.
Office for Agricultural Services (OAS) said twenty-eight business owners provincewide registered for the week-long fair which include 13 business owners from the food services sector, seven from Ready-to-Wear (RTW) and dry goods merchandise, two from agri-products and three each from the processed foods and handicraft, loom and furniture sector.
Leading the activity was Governor Elias C. Bulut, Jr. In said event, the governor disclosed plans for a bigger agri-trade fair in the future . "I am hoping for more products to be showcased in the future."
"For this plan to prosper, we encourage our farmers to produce more and come up with more competitive products," Bulut said alongside his commitment to sustain the provincial government's support to farmers through soft loans and exposure to other provinces with the aim to promote locally-produced agri-commodities and agri fishery-based products outside of Apayao.
The soft opening also ushered in series of Tekno-Klinik, Product Showcase, Skills Demonstration and Information Education Campaign (IEC) sessions with various agencies taking turns until February 12 that include Office for Agricultural Services (OAS), Apayao Training Center (ATC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Department of Agriculture – Research Outreach Station (DA-ROS), Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Bureau of Fishery and Aquatic Resources (BFAR), Apayao State College (ASC) and the Cooperative Bank of Cagayan (CBC).
The said opening also signals the competition of municipalities in their grand festival booths showcasing each municipality’s agri-tourism products with their full opening on February 10.
