Pudtol, Apayao - Department of Social Welfare and Development - Cordillera (DSWD - CAR) reports that as of August 30, 2023 a total of 5,442 households in Apayao are receiving assistance through the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).
The information was presented along with the accomplishments of the depertment during the 4-day DSWD-CAR Media Tour in Pudtol, Apayao.
Among the seven municipalities in Apayao, Kabugao has the most number of 4Ps beneficiaries with 1,333 families, followed by Conner with 1,259 recipients, Flora with 683, Pudtol with 677, Luna with 621, Calanasan with 497, and Santa Marcela with 372.
These beneficiaries make up 12.88% of the total number of household recipients in the Cordillera region, which equates to 42,226 individuals.
The 4Ps program is a national poverty reduction initiative and a human capital investment program that provides cash transfers to economically disadvantaged households for a maximum of seven years. The program aims to enhance the well-being of recipients by focusing on their health, nutrition, and education, ultimately breaking the cycle of intergenerational poverty.
The financial grant to 4Ps families is given every 2 months and is divided into three (3) categories: educational grants of P300 each for elementary, 500 for junior high school, and 700 for senior high school; health grants of P750 per family; and rice subsidies of P600 per household.
The department informed that while some beneficiaries may have graduated from the program this year, new qualified recipients have been identified and will soon be included.
