Luna, Apayao - Through the assistance of the Provincial Government of Apayao (PGA) military recruitment program, another 27 young yApayaos are set to begin a six months training for enlistment in the Philippine Marine Corps (PMC).
The 27 trainees are part of the 154 passers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines Service Aptitude Exam (AFPSAT) held in the province last October 23 through the sponsorship of the PGA. After three months of rigid screening process, they qualified for possible enlistment to the PMC, but before which, have to undergo and successfully complete the Marine Corps’ six months training program.
Earlier, another 26 recruits under the provincial government’s program successfully completed their training with the Philippine Army. Seven of them were deployed to the Scout Ranger Regiment, two in Artillery Division, four were based in 7th Infantry Division (ID) in Central Luzon and 13 in 5th ID in Isabela.
This year, program coordinator Mr. Joel Asejo said that the PGA will soon select 10 deserving Senior High School (SHS) graduates to push their career in Philippine Military through travel and examination sponsorship in the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) and AFP Officer Candidate School (OCS).
The initiative is part of the efforts of the PGA to provide livelihood to yApayaos, while at the same time works to assist in curbing lawlessness, criminality and ultimately the total elimination of any presence of the Communist Terrorist Groups (CTGs) in the province.
