Pudtol, Apayao – A two-year-old boy died from drowning after he fell into an irrigation canal in Barangay San Luis, Pudtol, Apayao on Monday, July 11, 2022.
The Bureau of Fire Protection – Pudtol identified the victim as a certain Kyle Jayvee Lista Viernes, a resident of said area.
Initial report states that Viernes, along with his playmates, were playing on a bicycle near the irrigation canal.
The victim was then riding on the sidecar of the bicycle when it plunged into a 30-meter deep ravine, causing Viernes to fall into the irrigation canal.
Upon receiving a call from a concerned resident concerning the incident, the BFP-Pudtol led by Inspector Zaldy Tugaoen immediately conducted search and rescue operation at 3:50 PM.
The BFP personnel retrieved the victim’s body at 7:08 PM along Amado, Pudtol. Viernes was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
Authorities reminded parents to look after their children to prevent a repeat of the tragic incident.
